The national Trans reliability trials are designed as training rides to test mind, body and equipment ahead of the summer ultras such as the Transcontinental. They are held on first full weekend of the month from April to June each year. They are predominantly road based but some riders may take gravel shortcuts as they are free to choose their route between the checkpoints. The distances and complexity of the route planning steps up each month. Only two people in the history of TRC have completed TransEngland, TransWales, and TransScotland in a season.
The national XDURO bikepacking trials are held on first full weekend of the month from July to September each year. These are fixed route gravel rides; EnglanDURO is a nice intro to bikepacking, WalesDURO is beautiful, and ScotDURO is pretty full on.
In addition we have a growing number of one-day XDURO rides which serve as tasters for the longer trials.
