​TransWales occurs each year on the first full weekend in May​​.  

#transwales19 details:
  • Start: Fri 3 May 2019, 11.00pm start on the road below Menai Bridge, Bangor
  • End: Cardiff Bay Barrage
  • Debrief: Sun 5 May 2019, 9am breakfast at the YHA Cardiff
​​Key points:
  • The route is from Bangor to Cardiff : ~350km long with ~6,200m of ascent via 4 checkpoints (all dams) spread out over the mountains of Snowdonia and Brecon Beacon NPs
  • The trial consists of a start point, 4 checkpoints, and an end point.  You chose the route passing through these checkpoints.
  • Tweet a timestamped photo at the start, at each checkpoint, and at the finish.

Entry

Step 1​ - book travel/accommodation as per below (most TRC riders will follow this itinerary but by all means do your own thing):
  1. Book train with bike reservation to Bangor to arrive on Friday evening
  2. Book train  with bike reservation from Cardiff sometime after breakfast on Sunday
  3. ​Book a bed in YHA Cardiff for Saturday night and tell them you may be arriving late
​Step 2 - ​enter the trial:
  1. ​Join our club on Strava if not already a member
  2. Sign-up to the event on Strava - here
  3. Invite your mates and share on social media using #transwales19

TransWales18 title holder: Ian Walker (16h15m) - full results
  • Ian Walker then went on to win the North Cape 4000
  • Meanwhile, Ede Harrison (first women home), went on to be the fastest woman at #TCRNo6​​
