Format

The idea is to meet in Inverness and ride up to the finish of GBDURO to see riders coming in, whilst exploring some of the most remote landscapes, bothies, and pubs on the way. Unlike our other rides, this will be ridden at a super relaxed party pace.

We'd like to use this ride to raise some money for the amazing work of the Mountain Bothies Association - so if you're riding please donate £25 (and stick 'The Racing Collective' in the 'Please provide further info' box.

The #GBDUROdotwatcherparty will take place on 23-26 August 2024:
  • Start: meet at Velocity Cafe, Inverness, IV2 3NF (a 9.30am start means you'll be able to grab a quick coffee/breakfast beforehand)
  • End: back in Inverness ready for trains home in the evening

Route
We'll be exploring the Scottish highlands north of Inverness.

How far are we going?
We're probably looking to do ~430km over 4 days, so probably cycling a bit over 100km/day, camping as we go.

What bike shall I ride?
A gravel bike with >40mm tyres or a rigid MTB would do the job. There may be a wee bit of hike-a-bike so bring the right shoes.

The route we tentativlely plan to follow is provided below but of course you're welcome to roam free
  • Inverness to Contin [30km, 164m] - just to connect to the route
  • Contin to Cape Wrath [194km, 3132m] - this is the route the GBDURO riders will be taking
  • Cape Wrath to Inverness [199km, 2212m] - our default will be to ride back the same way we came to intercept other riders, however if we're short of time we can take this is (mainly) road route back to Inverness
