#pdNYM17 is a 140km self-supported bikepacking pubcrawl over the stunning gravel of the North York Moors National Park held on the August bank holiday weekend each year.
#pdNYM17 will run on Saturday 26 August 2017:
The ride will be run in Crossduro format - 5 timed segments comprised of gravel and road. Rider with the lowest aggregate time over the segments 'wins'. Note there are no entry fees, no prizes, and there is no support.
We will visit 4 of the finest pubs in the North York Moors: The Buck Inn, Lion Inn, White Horse Farm Inn, and The Horseshoe Inn. Of course drinking and riding is a dangerous mix and something we would never advocate; as with all our rides, riders are entirely responsible for your own actions, including what you chose to drink at the various watering holes. The etiquette is to ride with who you want, when you want. Some people will want to lounge, some people will want to race. Don't feel like you have to wait for the group as it might be a pain at the pubs if we all turn up at the same time. What bike shall I ride?
You'd ideally ride this on a gravel/adventure /cyclocross bike with ~35mm tyres but a winter road bike would also be fine if you're up for a gritty ride. A rigid MTB would be another possibility. What shall I bring? You'll need stuff for overnight camping i.e. a bivvy bag and light sleeping bag/down jacket. And you'll need some sturdy bikepacking bags so you can ride hard off-road. |
