OxDURO is a 130km self-supported no frills road-gravel ride held on the second Saturday of Oxford Bike Week each year. It is a gentle gateway into the national XDURO trials.
#OxDURO18 will run on Saturday 16 June 2018:
The ride will be run in XDURO format - 5 timed segments comprised of gravel and road. Lots of time for socialising in the non-timed bits. Rider with the lowest aggregate time over the segments 'wins'*. *There are no entry fees, no prizes, and there is no support. You are entirely responsible for your own actions, only turn up to ride if you are comfortable with this (see Rules for more details). The route crosses over several junctions and has short sections on A-roads so be particularly careful here and ride sensibly (e.g. don't cycle in a group >6 people). And on bridleway sections, always give priority to walkers and be courteous. In short, don't be a dick. |

What bike shall I ride?
You'd ideally ride this on a gravel/adventure /cyclocross bike with ~35mm tyres but a winter road bike would also be fine if you're up for a gritty ride. How much off-road is there? In total there are 9 off-road sections, totalling 46km, which is just over 33% in distance, but more 50% or more in terms of time. |
Below are the timed segments,
please favourite them on Strava (see instructions): There is also a bonus #bemoremike segment in honour of the late ultra cyclist Mike Hall - determination is the key parameter here to deal with the bridleway from hell. |
no prizes | no support
