As activities go, self-supported riding is probably one of the 'least worst' sports we can do. That said, below are some additional rules we have introduced until all lockdown measures are relaxed - these rules currently affect TransEngland, OxDURO, and TransWales, but could be extended to other rides if the target date of 21 June 2021 is pushed back.
COVID-19 rules applied to TransEngland, OxDURO, and TransWales
Please download the NHS Covid-19 app before you travel.
Please fill in a quick online form to collect your contact details - you will be able to sign up to all the Trials and edit choices a later date via the link in the automated email sent upon form completion. Should you later develop COVID-19 symptoms or test positive please let us know by contacting us through the form on the About page. Only riders who have registered will appear in the results.
To help facilitate social distancing we are changing how our rides start and end - in short, there will be no set start time (rather set-off anytime in a 4h window) and no finisher's drinks :(. For TransEngland and TransWales, we will take your start/end time from timestamped posts; you should ride independently from any other rider. For XDURO trails we'll take the segment times as normal; please do not ride/hangout in a group of more than 6 people.
Please do all the obvious things like i) carry a face mask and alcohol gel, ii) practice social distancing, iii) be ready to sign into commercial services via the NHS Covid-19 app [so bring a battery pack to ensure it's charged], and iv) do not travel if you're from a hotspot area, have symptoms etc.
Look forward to future trials when we can ride free and easy.
These rules were last updated on 21/5/2021.
previous covid-19 RELATED ANNOUNCEMENTS
Revised dates for 2021 (TransEngland, TransWales, TransScotland, and GlenDURO) - announced 5 March 2021 In response to the government’s announcements last week about the timing of lockdown easing, we have decided to push some of our early rides back. Whilst self-supported riding is about as socially-distant as it gets, voluntarily travelling the length and breadth of the UK is not. And by moving the rides back, giving clear distance after the indicative lockdown easing schedule, we hope to be able to rekindle the community feel at the start/end points of these rides in clear conscience. This affects TransEngland, TransWales, TransScotland, and GlenDURO; dates of all other rides remain the same. The new dates of these reliability trails are as follows:
28-29 May 2021 - TransEngland - #transengland21
18-19 June 2021 - TransWales - #transwales21
17-18 July 2021 - TransScotland - #transscotland21
31 July 2021 - one-day ride GlenDURO - #glenduro21
Apologies if you can no longer attend; if that is the case please remove yourself from the ride on Strava. If you are able to make the revised dates, please make sure you have download your local NHS track and trace app and do not travel to any of our rides if you're from a hotspot area. These guidelines apply to all rides in 2021.
Whilst the delay is disappointing as we’re all itching to get out to explore more than ever, we hope these new dates mean we can enjoy the community aspect of these rides once again. See you out there x
